Chamber of Commerce hosting Art Fest Saturday

The Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce will present the first-ever, Piggott Art Festival from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, May 3 around the downtown courtsquare.

The festival will include an Art Show-Sale inside the north entrance of The Piggott Diner as painting, photography, pottery and other art media will be featured. An added attraction will be face painting by a professional artist.

There will also be a sidewalk chalk art competition on the courthouse square between students of surrounding schools. Groups of up to four students will be allowed to contribute to any one chalk design and all participants are required to pre-register in order to compete. Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place in both elementary (k-6) and high school (7-12) levels. Some late entries may be allowed, those interested are encouraged to call the chamber office to find out about the availability of space.

The Piggott Elementary Art Show entries will also be displayed in store windows around the square.

Organizers report that several entertainers will be performing that day including-- Gary Prince and The Sugar Creek Band, The Gurley Band, 8 Mile Band and the Piggott High School Swingin' Mohawk Jazz Band.

In addition, the Young at Art VI student art competition-exhibition will be on exhibit at the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum.

Admission to the Piggott Art Festival is free and those wanting more information can call the Piggott Chamber office at 870-598-3167.
